I’m looking for recommendations of consultants and/or organizations that offer racial equity training specifically for foundations and grantmakers.

We’re interested in more equitable hiring practices as well as contracting language around ownership of ideas & information generated, reciprocal confidentiality clauses, hiring of subcontractors, and anything else related to the terms of a contract.

Our Fund uses external reviewers to review, score, and make funding recommendations. External reviewers generally are master’s level professionals with experience in funding review and the sector which is children’s mental health and substance abuse. What is the process for arriving at a reasonable fee structure to attract competent reviewers?

Vancouver Foundation is launching a new youth engagement initiative focused on racial equity (specifically Indigenous, immigrant and refugee young people). We’re in the process of developing our grant applications, reports and criteria. I’m curious about the other funders out there that do racial equity grantmaking and wondering if it would be possible to get more information about your own grant applications, reports and criteria. And if there are any projects that you’ve funded that really stand out to you I’d love to hear about them as well!

Allegany Franciscan Ministries is interested in utilizing various methods other than traditional grant-making to support communities in our place-based initiative, such as social impact funds, micro-grants/loans, loans (directly or through a CDFI), payments to for-profit entities and consultants to deliver a service such as community outreach and marketing or leadership development, and others. I am both looking for resources and example, AND looking for someone who can present to my board of directors on June 19 as part of a panel, describing an alternative practice from the lens of a foundation.

I’m curious if this is a common practice and what funders have learned in the process to draft/implement these types of statements.

We’re looking for insight for how to best uncover what the fundraising landscape looks like for this issue area and how to facilitate the organizations through the early stages of investigating whether and how they might collaborate around fundraising.

How do we invite conversations with the two communities we’ve identified for this shift, without sounding alarms both within those communities (by some who might fear that the Foundation will impose an unwelcome agenda) and outside those communities (by former grantees who will no longer be eligible for funding)?

Does anyone have experience in awarding micro-grants (under $1000) to non-registered associations/clubs/organizations or individuals?
