Become a member

Membership is currently open to:

  • Grantmaking institutions, such as a foundation, a corporate giving program, a government funder, a United Way or a venture philanthropy organization
  • Infrastructure groups that serve grantmakers as their primary members
  • Academic programs at accredited universities where philanthropy is the primary focus of your research or coursework.

Important: Not a Grantmaking Foundation

GEO is not a grantmaking foundation and does not accept applications for support. Rather, GEO is a membership organization serving grantmakers, helping them apply strategies and practices that contribute to grantee success. Additionally, the GEO community is not a place for solicitation of grant funding nor does GEO support members in their fundraising efforts.
