GEOList Summary: Capturing Grantee Stories through Grant Reporting Forms

We at the New York State Health Foundation have been thinking about a whole range of ways to make it easier for us to collect and share our grantees’ stories. One idea that’s come up is to ask grantees to include a story in their interim and/or final grant reports to the Foundation. We want to structure something that won’t be overly burdensome to our grantees, that will give them some context for why it’s important to tell stories (and some resources to do so), and that will help both them and us to capture our grantees’ impact. Do other foundations ask for or require stories in their standard reporting forms? If so, would you be willing to share your forms (or even just the language for that question)? We would love to see some examples of how other folks have structured the question and to learn more about whether it’s been helpful to the foundation and grantees to gather stories in this way.
