Member Call: A Post Election Conversation Between GEO and Demos
Join GEO and K. Sabeel Rahman, President of Demos, to explore how democracy, economic power, grassroots movement building and racial equity are all interrelated.
Event Details
This past year has been enormously challenging for our democracy, for Black and brown communities on the ground, and for all of us in the social change sector. This moment calls upon all of us to reimagine our work, our strategies, and to insure that we are doing all we can to create a just, equitable, and inclusive democracy. In this talk Sabeel Rahman, President of Demos will highlight how democracy, economic power, grassroots movement building and racial equity are all interrelated and how each of these goals must be incorporated into any vision for civic engagement, social change, or philanthropic initiatives. Philanthropy must ultimately serve the needs of democracy and that means taking seriously the commitment to build grassroots civic power and transforming our economic and political institutions.
