Peer Learning

Explore innovative practices that focus on racial equity and support nonprofits and communities in thriving.

We offer three dynamic workshops designed to support grantmakers to transform their practice in service of nonprofits and communities. Each workshop provides a deep, interactive learning experience to help grantmakers strengthen their approach to equity-centered practices.

Capacity Building

• Duration: 1-day workshop (6-8 hours)
• This workshop explores how grantmakers and capacity builders can center intersectional racial equity in capacity-building efforts, mitigate inequities, and adapt strategies to ensure they align with community needs. Participants will gain tools to integrate equity-centered practices into their work.

Culture

• Duration: 1 or 2-day workshop (6-8 hours per day)
• Participants will assess their current organizational culture, explore alignment between values and behaviors, and identify concrete steps to cultivate an equitable and inclusive environment.

Community-Driven Philanthropy

• Duration 1-day workshop (6-8 hours)
• Participants will explore tools and frameworks to strengthen community engagement, enhance participatory philanthropy practices, and build long-term relationships rooted in trust and shared power.

Two-day, in-person gatherings provide peers the opportunity to engage in intimate and confidential role-focused discussions. GEO does not charge a program fee for this offering; we provide materials and cover all meals throughout the convening. Participants cover their own travel, lodging and other associated costs with getting to and from the convening location. GEO’s Remote Learning Series offers an interactive, virtual space for grantmakers to deepen their equity-centered practice and help shift the norms of philanthropy.

Each multi-session series brings provides a supportive peer community where they can share challenges, exchange ideas, and learn from others in the field. Together, we explore real-world examples, apply practical tools and resources, and gain fresh insights to strengthen day-to-day grantmaking practice.
