Since 2008, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) has tracked trends in effective grantmaking through its national field study. The 2025 National Study of Philanthropic Practice, conducted in partnership with Strength in Numbers Consulting Group, is the only survey of philanthropic practice sent to all staffed foundations in the U.S. Drawing on responses from 765 grantmakers, the study provides a comprehensive look at grantmaking practices between 2022 and 2024, highlighting where philanthropy is making progress and where gaps remain.
