How can CEOs/Executive Directors and board leaders collaborate to shift grantmaker board culture and practice toward a more equitable, meaningful, and valuable relationship with the organization?
Because this is an action-oriented conversation, we are inviting CEOs/EDs and change-oriented board leaders to attend together as pairs. This convening, which emerged from a growing excitement in our sector around the potential for more effective governance, has taken on greater urgency given the challenges we’re all facing—challenges that require grantmakers to be more aligned both internally and collectively with our partners and communities. Because GEO members are committed to transforming philanthropy, GEO has developed a learning initiative to support grantmakers who are exploring their governance practices, structure and culture as an important lever for change. Northern California Grantmakers has also been working on this topic, and we’re partnering to co-host this gathering in the Bay Area this spring.
This 1.5-day roundtable conversation will bring together an intimate group of pairs of CEOs/Executive Directors and board leaders who are asking similar questions and imagining new ways of working in service of their missions. If you have been thinking about your organization’s approach to governance and are ready for a practical conversation about what it takes to change, this convening is for you.
Please reach out to Meghan Duffy at duffy@geofunders.org to register for the convening, ask questions and/or to share your interest in a similar future convening.
