Capacity Building Champions

GEO’s network of Capacity Building Champions celebrates GEO members who are passionate about nonprofit capacity building and are actively motivated to see change.

Throughout this twelve-month volunteer post, Champions independently and collectively engage in catalytic movement-building activities, serving as GEO’s frontline advocates and thought leaders and expanding their own networks and reach. Champions will convene virtually to learn, share resources and apply insights to their outreach efforts. Capacity Building Champions are mobilizers, advocates and influencers for the adoption of smarter grantmaking practices so that nonprofits are more resilient and community needs are more effectively addressed.

Champions will meet three times per year (virtually), complete advocacy actions throughout the year, serve as a GEO ‘Ambassador’ at conferences (when in attendance), attend professional development/skill building webinars, and report-out on observed progress. Champions will also have the opportunity to connect more intimately through small cohorts of 3-4 participants – facilitated and coached by Capacity Building Mentors.

If you were a Champion, you’d be:

Tweeting the latest capacity building publication using #GEOCBChampion. Hosting a member call on the topic of capacity building evaluation. Hosting a local brownbag on a capacity building article. Presenting on capacity building at a conference. Co-authoring a capacity building piece with GEO staff.
