Embodying a Culture of Courage

Rooted & Responsive Practice Series: Part 3

Rooted & Responsive is GEO’s multi-year leadership initiative helping grantmakers stay grounded in racial equity and community-centered practice amid disruption.

As part of this initiative, we’re offering a three-part webinar series designed to help grantmakers build the capacity to navigate change with purpose. Together, these sessions explore the ongoing practices of unlearning, courage and interdependence required to operationalize racial equity and align our internal structures with our values.

The final session of this practice series focuses on institutional embodiment of courage—the alignment of internal governance and other organizational structures with our values, even when outcomes are uncertain. Through stories from individual grantmakers, we will explore how governance structures and cultures can either reinforce caution or support equity commitments becoming lived practice. Together, we will explore how reimagining governance can strengthen organizational accountability to the communities we serve.

This is Part 3 of a three-part series. Revisit Part 1: Anchoring in Vision and Part 2: Cultivating Interdependence to deepen your practice and carry these ideas into action.
