Reimagining Capacity Building to Center Racial Equity

Join GEO's Nichole Hoeflich at the Philanthropy Northwest virtual conference to learn how grantmakers can transform traditional approaches to capacity building to ones rooted in principles of racial equity.

Event Details

The root of the word philanthropy means “love of humanity.” 2020 challenged us to show up for humanity and our communities like never before. While our region recovers, philanthropy still needs to respond nimbly, think big and take action in partnership with community.

Join Philanthropy Northwest for The Future is FORWARD, the PNW21 Virtual Conference on October 5-7, which is focused on bringing philanthropy peers together to share action-based learning and strategies to create meaningful change.

The Philanthropy Northwest conference is the biggest and best opportunity to connect and explore what it means for us to return to better, instead of normal. Through inspiring speakers, peer-to-peer connection, skills building and a celebration of Northwest arts we will begin to actualize a more just future for our region.

During the conference, GEO’s Nichole Hoeflich will present a session on capacity building.

Capacity building is a critical part of grantmakers’ work, yet many programs do not consider the role of culture, systems and power which can lead to perpetuating inequity. Join this session with Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) as they share their new research on how we can transform traditional approaches to capacity building to ones rooted in principles of racial equity. GEO will lift up lessons learned and best practices from across the philanthropic sector and share how to apply these insights to your own grantmaking strategy.

Start: Thursday, October 7, 12:15 PM Pacific

End: Thursday, October 7, 1:45 PM Pacific

This event is open to all. Register here.
