Great News for the GEO Community

Dear GEO Community –

We wanted to share some exciting news that you may be reading about today.

We are thrilled to share that GEO has been selected as one of 286 organizations receiving funding in a new round of grants from MacKenzie Scott. The news is still incredibly fresh to us so we will be receiving additional details of the grant, but wanted to share the news directly with you as early as we were allowed to do so!

We are so pleased to see so many partner and member organizations joining us on this long list of grantees and are excited to see what this funding enables for the sector and our field. Given our mission and our vision for smarter grantmaking, we are especially pleased to see so much unrestricted funding going out to so many deserving organizations. We know that flexible, reliable funding, such as general operating support, multiyear grants and funds that cover indirect costs, gives nonprofits the resources to strengthen their organizations, respond to changes in our communities and make real progress.

We look forward to engaging in conversations with GEO stakeholders across our membership, staff, board, and partner organizations about how we can leverage this investment as we move forward with strategic planning over the next year or so. It gives us such an opportunity to use an abundance mindset and to use a wider frame about what’s possible. And we look forward to doing this in partnership with all of you.
