Shantaé François is the communications specialist at Grantmakers for Effective Organizations. In this role, she sets the strategic direction for various projects across GEO’s communications channels and manages execution to grow and strengthen GEO’s presence. In addition to generating email, web and social content, she uses data to provide strategic insight on the effectiveness of GEO’s communications. Additionally, as a member of GEO’s internal diversity, equity and inclusion working group, Shantaé helps to shape GEO’s work focused on racial equity, diversity and inclusion.
Prior to joining GEO, Shantaé completed the AmeriCorps Public Allies program, a ten-month apprenticeship that advances diverse new leaders to strengthen nonprofits, communities and civic participation. Through the program, Shantaé served as the partner communications and outreach associate at Fair Chance, an organization that improves the lives of children in Washington, DC’s most underserved communities by selecting promising youth-serving nonprofits and providing them with free comprehensive expertise in organizational management. Before participating in the Public Allies program, Shantaé served as the media intern at Peter A. Mayer Advertising in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Shantaé is a graduate of Howard University, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing.
