As member engagement specialist, Austin supports the GEO member renewal and recruitment process. He is also responsible for database management, including the automation of the renewal process, and provides executive support to the Vice President of Member and Partner Engagement.
Prior to joining GEO, Austin worked at the George Washington University in the GW Sustainability Collaborative where he evaluated the state of environmental sustainability education and research at the university. He assisted with convening GW offices and outside partners to create a more sustainable future. Also while working at GW, Austin was assistant project manager for the transition to the newly constructed GW School of Public Health building and coordinated with the construction team on behalf of the school.
Austin has also worked in intellectual and developmental advocacy at The Arc of the United States. There his roles included chapter relations, evaluation of chapter activities, and support for a health program for people with disabilities.
Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in human services and master of public health with a concentration in health promotion, both from the George Washington University. He is a member of ONE DC and a volunteer with the adult education program at the National Capital Area YWCA.
