Whether you call it organizational strengthening or capacity building, supporting efforts to build and accelerate nimble, dynamic organizations that deliver measurable impact is one of the most important things grantmakers can do. Directly after GEO’s 2019 Learning Conference in Seattle, join your grantmaker peers for a highly interactive workshop to share and receive knowledge, tools and resources to strengthen your own organizational strengthening practice while connecting with peers working on similar issues. Throughout the workshop, we’ll go deep on a range of topics, questions and challenges that matter most to you and your work, like learning and evaluation, co-designing programs with nonprofits and communities, models for collaboration, working with consultants, integrating diversity, equity and inclusion, and more!

Agenda

This is a participant-driven workshop. We will work with those attending to identify topics of shared interest in the period leading up to the event, but possible topics include: the role of assessment, collaboration with grantees in designing programs, evaluating organizational strengthening programs, mainstreaming considerations of diversity, equity and inclusion in organizational strengthening and building responsive programs.

2:10 – 2:45 pm: Welcome and Workshop Kick-Off

2:45 – 3:45 pm: Learning Session 1 (4-5 pre-determined topics)

BREAK

4:00 – 5:00 pm: Learning Session 2 (4-5 pre-determined topics)

5:00 – 5:30 pm: Speed Networking Rounds (6 rounds of 5-minute speed networking to set up future discussion on topics of shared interest

5:30 – 6:30 pm: Social Hour

Who should attend?

The workshop is open to those attending the GEO Learning Conference, GEO and Philanthropy Northwest member organizations and members of the Washington Statewide Capacity Collaborative. The workshop will be most appropriate for staff who are leading and actively designing, supporting and evaluating organizational strengthening programs.

Register here using the code SOS2019 and we will send additional information for how to participate in the workshop agenda development process. The expected number of participants is 40-45. The Regular Registration fee is $150, but we’re offering a discount to early sign-ups of $125 until April 30th.

Refreshments during the workshop and at a social hour after the event will be included.

This half-day peer learning workshop will be hosted by Social Sector Accelerator, the Washington Statewide Capacity Collaborative and GEO.

The Social Sector Accelerator makes leaders, organizations and networks stronger, more resilient, and ensures they can make lasting change in their communities. In this work, we partner with grantmakers, non-profits, networks and impact investors and social entrepreneurs.
