GEO + Colorado Trust Member Call: Building Individual, Organizational and Community Capacity around Racial Equity
During this member call on October 28, the Colorado Trust will discuss capacity building and racial equity.
Event Details
Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) is partnering with The Colorado Trust to offer two Member Calls that will allow participants to engage in deep conversation about racial equity capacity-building.
Partners from The Colorado Trust’s Health Equity Advocacy (HEA) strategy held a webinar on centering race in health equity advocacy for GEO members in late August. They shared a multilevel framework that was developed by members of the HEA Cohort to guide racial equity capacity-building efforts at multiple levels:
- Individual: Race-based caucusing for Cohort members
- Organization: Consultant support for organizational transformation
- Community: Racial equity trainings and gatherings
In these Member Calls, you will have the opportunity to ask questions of three HEA Cohort members who engaged in these capacity-building activities as well as the Advocacy & Policy Partner at The Colorado Trust.
We heard that GEO members were particularly interested in learning more about race-based caucusing and we anticipate a large portion of the call being dedicated to this capacity-building strategy. Please join us for an honest conversation about what engaging in racial equity capacity building takes and looks like. You can also learn more about the early results and lessons learned from these multilevel efforts in this learning paper or blog post.
