Community & Partner Call: A Community- and Data-Driven Approach to Funding Racial Justice Grassroots Organizing

Too often grantmakers feel they must make a choice between rigor and inclusivity in their grantmaking. This interactive community and partner call will lead you through the actions and tools taken by the Hazen Foundation staff and trustees to follow the leadership of grassroots leaders in the implementation of a strategic plan that centers grassroots organizing and youth organizing for education justice and racial justice.

We will explore the nuts and bolts of putting a bold vision of grantmaking into action, including how this resulted in targeted changes that Hazen made to application processes, grants management, program, evaluation, reporting and capacity building. Using Hazen’s experience as a case study, you will delve into how to take a community- and data-driven approach to supporting grassroots community organizing.
